TATTOO VIRGIN? TATTOO SHOPS

Jesus and Mary the Virgin Tattoo Designs

Pictures of Jesus and Mary the virgin are the most important in the Christian faith. Of all the religious tattoo designs these are the most popular, they are usually used for the larger pieces that people have as there is usually a lot of detail.

In this page we will go through some of the most iconic images of Jesus and Mary.

·     Jesus on his own

·     Jesus and the Sermon on the Mount

·     Jesus with the children

·     The Resurrected Jesus

·     Mary and Jesus together

·     Catholic Mary mother of God

Jesus on this own

In many popular designs, Jesus isn’t doing anything particular he is just standing on his own in an abstract pose, showing either just his torso or whole body.    Many go for colour but just as many for black and grey.    For more ideas of styles to have your Jesus design see Jesus on the Cross Tattoos.

Jesus and the Sermon on the Mount

Jesus’ teachings, apart from his death and resurrection are the foundation of the Christian faith.    All of the gospels have some kind of reference to the Sermon on the Mount where Jesus teaches his most important and famous lessons, including the beatitudes and the parable of the sower.    This is the reason why this image of Jesus is used so often.

Jesus with the Children

Another of the great iconic images of Jesus is when he asks the disciples to not stop the children gathering near him for blessing.  Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."’ Matthew 19:14 NIV.    Some parents would favour this design over others to remind them that their children have divine protection.

The Resurrected Jesus

A part from Jesus on the cross, the images of the resurrected Christ are just as popular.    Inside of Jesus with the corn of thorns in agony, his face is full of peace.    Sometimes these images depict the mounds of his crucifixion.    However, more often than not these particular images have a Catholic flaming heart, Jesus is sometimes holding it or it is an emblem on the robe he is wearing.     In most designs he is wearing a white robe.

Mary and Jesus together

The reason that Mary is such an influential figure is because she is Jesus' mother, because of this she is often holding her son in her arms as a baby, to remind the person that she was his mother and deserves respect.

However, there are many tattoo designs that show Mary and Jesus together either with no background or at the scene of the crucifixion.  These designs that depict the crucifixion can have Jesus on the cross or when he has been taken off and Mary is holding him.

Catholic Mary mother of God

Of all the Christian denominations, the Catholics hold Mary in the highest regard, more so than many other denominations. This has resulted in some unique images of Mary, they will often have Mary in brightly coloured clothes and with a flaming Catholic heart.
