Pin up Style Make up
Classic
pin up style makeup is really hot look, that oozes
strength and confidence. Think Dita Von Teese, Angelina
Jolie, Marilyn Monroe or Megan Fox. The makeup is about
sculpting the face and creating
drama.

Remember that
practice makes perfect (especially when it comes to
liquid eyeliner) and so the more you try, the more
polished you will appear.
These are the
basics for this look. But be creative and play around
with different looks, try different colors and products
and see what you like
best.
Beautiful
Base
Always start
with your foundation layer. Work out whether you want a
matt finish, or a more dewy look, and then find a product
that works for your skin tone and type. Avoid looking too
‘orange’ or too ‘white’ by making sure you match the
color of the foundation correctly with your skin.
Depending on
what products you like to use, follow one of these
steps:
- Apply
concealer under your eyes and on any problem areas, then
quickly brush on a light layer of liquid foundation, then
dust over a layer of
powder.
Or - Using
mineral foundation, apply concealer underneath your eyes,
then apply your mineral powder in circular motions, and
add some mineral veil on top to set the
color.
Add some
bronzer to freshen your skin up, and make it appear more
healthy, concentrate on the area just underneath your
cheekbones. Then apply blusher to your cheekbones, you
can decide how much you want to use depending on how
dramatic/natural you want to appear.
Defined
Eyebrows
A really
important part of this look is having a really strong
eyebrow. If you never pluck your eyebrows, consider going
to a beauty therapist to have some shaping done, so you
understand what sort of shapes will suit your face and
eyes. Then you can continue to maintain this look at
home.
To give some
more structure to your face, use an eyebrow pencil in a
matching shade to feather in your eyebrows. Make sure to
focus on drawing an arch, and creating and angle.
You could also
use an eyebrow brush and a matching eyeshadow shade. The
beginning and end of your eyebrows are really important,
as this is usually where eyebrows loose definition. Don’t
forget to set your eyebrows with some eyebrow
gel.
Smoky
Eyes
To create a
smokey look, that’s really sultry and sexy, choose some
rich neutral colors to blend onto your eye area. Three or
four colours is usually a good idea, and make sure that
they are all in similar tonal families, like browns or
greys for instance.
Start with
your lightest shade, and use an eyeshadow brush to blend
this underneath your eyebrow. This will give your
eyebrows even more distinction, and visibly lift your
face. You could also use a special eye highlighter pencil
to draw underneath your
brows.
Then take the
next darkest color, and apply this all over the eye area,
from lash line to brow. Then apply the next color over
just the lid, and then the darkest one in your crease
line. Take a crease brush and wiggle your darker colour
from the outer corner of your eye, following your crease
line to about halfway. Blend a little of this darker
color along your lash line from the outer corner to the
centre, to create an attractive sideways V
shape.
Next for
eyeliner. You should have three kinds at the ready: white
pencil, black pencil and black liquid (for something more
natural and everyday, sub the black for brown). Take the
liquid eyeliner and create a winged look by drawing
across the top of your lashes, then slightly further out
and up, then draw in a curve to connect back to the
centre of your lash line. Fill in the small space that’s
left.
Then apply
white liner to the inner bottom lash line, then put black
pencil liner all the way around your bottom lash
line.
Curl your
lashes with an eyelash curler, apply some fake lashes
(strip or individual), and then put on heaploads of
mascara on the top lashes, and a little on the bottom
ones.
Statement
Lips
Red lips are a
classic look. They are pure glamour. Marilyn Monroe was
famous for her signature red lips, and she always
combined several different reds to create the perfect red
color, so don’t be afraid to mix.
Start by
applying concealer or foundation all over your lips,
which will help the color to stay put. Then draw a line
around your lips, but be gentle and use short strokes.
You can draw in your whole lips, but this is not totally
necessary. Then use a lip brush to apply your lipstick.
And then add a little gloss to your lips for extra
glamour.
